Why Cleaning in Aged Care Matters

Senior care facilities face unique health risks due to vulnerable populations prone to infections. Thorough, regular cleaning following best infection control practices protects residents, staff, and visitors by reducing pathogens in high-touch areas like handrails, door handles, telephones, and communal spaces.

Exterior Cleaning for Aged Care Facilities

Most of the aged care cleaning we are asked about happens inside the building. The outside is usually what gets left, and it is the work that needs the most planning, because windows, gutters and paths sit above and around the areas residents use every day. We schedule exterior work as periodical cleaning, booked in ahead, rather than called in after a blockage or a complaint.

External Window Cleaning

We clean external windows with a water-fed pole system that uses purified water only, with no chemicals and no ladders. In an aged care setting that means no chemical run-off onto garden beds or paths, and no ladder leaning against the building outside a resident’s room. Internal glass is scoped separately, so it can be timed around resident routines.

Gutter Cleaning

Gutters fill gradually with leaves and debris, and the problem only shows itself in heavy rain, when water spills over the sides and pools around entries and walkways. We clear them on a schedule instead, ahead of the storm season. Work at height is covered by our WHS Management Plan, and we sight and discuss the Safe Work Method Statement with your site manager before anyone goes up.

Pressure Cleaning of Paths and Entries

Paths, ramps, courtyards and car parks collect grime and moss, which makes them slippery as well as untidy. We pressure clean them in sections, with exclusion zones and signage around the active area, and your care staff told before we start so residents can be directed another way. Each area is handed back as soon as it is dry and safe to walk on.

Exterior work is scoped in the same site visit as the rest of your cleaning. We walk the building with you, agree the scope of work, then give your team and ours five days’ notice before scheduled periodical work, covering the work routine, safety precautions, access requirements and site guidelines.
